Remedial massage is treatment for the relief of pain.
It helps many muscular conditions, both chronic, (such as
long standing arthritis) and acute (such as sudden back strain).
Remedial massage works thoroughly through muscles and associated
soft tissue to aid healing after injury relax muscle fibers
which have been strained and are in spasm, or release specific
areas of tension which are causing pain. Painful joints are
eased by working on the surro unding muscles which feed and
support the joint

is recovering from surgery, or is suffering from the effects
of stress can benefit from massage. People with serious medical

WHAT HAPPENS DURING MASSAGE

covered with towels. Only the area being worked on need to
be exposed. The masseur works using cream or oil, at a depth
of pressure you find acceptable. Length of treatment varies
Full body massage can take up to 60 minutes, where as lower
back pain or a frozen shoulder will require a shorter time
but more visits.
WHAT CAN SPORTS REMEDIAL MASSAGE DO?

that binds or glues one muscle fibre to another, speeds the
removal of fatigue toxins, relaxes muscle spasms, prevents
soreness and relieves pain.
All with just oil and professionally trained hands.
Sports remedial massage recognises that
you have different needs at different times.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY
Sustained pressure to release areas of biomechanical
stress. These points are precursors to injury and become hypersensitive
because of repetitive or stressful motion or trauma. They
refer pain so are often located outside the area of pain.
Acupressure is also used and is particularly effective in
healing and dispelling of pain in conditions such as back,
neck, joint pain, headaches and sports injuries etc.

POWER ASSISTED MICRO-MANIPULATION
This new revolutionary specialist equipment (P.A.M)
is now available here in the Sports Therapy Clinic to treat
back pain much more efficiently. The "Bionic Fingers"
of this equipment will mobilise and realign the complete vertebral
column. The spine is part of a dynamic system and its function
is all about forces and movement. Conventional Physiotherapy/sports
therapy works by manipulating the segments of the spine. This
machine can manipulate 25 times faster than the human hand
but uses much less force in that the spine is not twisted
or turned in any way. The patient simply lies face down in
a straight line whilst the whole spine is treated.
